HFA Fitness Theory with HFA Staff Next held on Sat, Sep 6, 2014 at 8:30 am - 5:30 pm

The Fitness Theory Course is the first step to becoming a Fitness Professional. It it the first of three courses, if you are planning on becoming a Personal Training and the first of two courses if you are planing on become a Group Fitness leader.

In this course you will learn about your muscles, bones, and how exercise influences your body. This course has proven to raise percentage scores on the National Exam.

Who is the Fitness Theory Course designed for?

  • individuals who would like to learn more about health, fitness and exercise
  • individuals who would like to help others achieve their fitness goals
  • individuals who enjoy working out and would like to turn it in to a career
  • for health care professionals that want to expand their scope of practice
  • for students who want to increase their personal knowledge and confidence levels
  • new moms and dads, young and older adults who want a positive and fun change in their lives

You will learn a basic introduction to kinesiology including:

  • leaning about health and exercise
  • learning the major muscles and their actions in relationship with exercise
  • learning the major bones & joints and role they play in exercise
  • learning about the heart and respiratory system
  • learning bio mechanics (the study of human movement)
  • learning how to take your own heart rate and body mass index
  • learning basic nutrition, energy systems and weight loss principles
  • learning about leadership and how to become a fitness professional

Upon Completion:

Upon completion of the course you will receive an attractive, professional certificate which officiates the completion of the first prerequisite to becoming a fitness professional. This certificate is color laser printed on quality paper and will not fade or smudge. You may proudly hang this certificate on your wall!

After taking this Course:

If you plan on continuing with becoming HFA Certified, upon passing you HFA Fitness Theory Exam, and have your Emergency First Aid and CPR, you may proceed to your next course.

Please Note: If you choose to register with the BCRPA, you are required to write your national theory exam directly after completing HFA's Fitness Theory course and before you register for your specialty module such as group fitness, weight training and personal training. HFA's in-class Fitness Theory meets the National Standards set by the NFLA.

You passed your ICE and now have been asked to take on your own class.  Suddenly you are in flight or fight mode. You have the confidence but are second guessing your abilities as a great Group Trainer.
This workshop is for you!  We are here to make your classes a success.  We will teach you the tips of the trade from our own experience and from those who have years of teaching under their belts.  We want you to be comfortable and confident while teaching any class format.
We will do a hands on cuing segment focusing on positive and corrective procedures.
